St. Paddy's Day Theme
“St. Paddy’s Day Theme!” Aleethia’s “Friday Night Dinner” for March 17th was hosted by the Arlington-Fairfax Elks Lodge #2188.
Over 60 wounded/injured service members, their families and guests enjoyed a buffet of Shepherd’s Pie, Beer Battered Cod and an array of “homemade” side dishes prepared and served by members of the Elks Lodge.
There were four tables filled with homemade desserts … and some were decorated in green!
The Lodge’s Exalted Ruler Tim Knotts welcomed everybody and said they were “honored to hold this dinner for the service members who have served our country and sacrificed so much in doing so.”
In keeping with celebrating St. Patrick’s Day, volunteers of “Freedom Petals” provided floral bouquets that included green shamrocks, pots of gold and more. Flowers have a strong positive impact on emotional health. Thanks to “Freedom Petals” for filling the room with excited smiles!
The Lodge’s Exalted Ruler Tim Knotts made a special presentation to honor Aleethia’s Executive Director, Hal Koster with the “The Elks Distinguished Citizenship Award.” Hal has made “differences in the lives of so many service members/veterans … Hal is quick to deflect recognition … and we all know how Hal demonstrates service over self…”
We wish to thank all the members of the Elks Lodge #2188 for the wonderful evening and a special thank you to the members who cooked all the wonderful homemade foods and desserts!
