Cheers Mate!

The Embassy of Australia hosted Aleethia’s Friday Night Dinner for 56 wounded/injured/ill service members, caregivers and guests.

The amazing evening was filled with a wonderful dinner sampling of Aussie cuisine including “seared Kangaroo Bruschetta,” musical entertainment, special door prizes, gift bags containing items from Australia, fellowship and so much more.

An “Aussie Hero Quilt” commemorating 100 years of Mateship was presented to an U.S. wounded service member. U.S. and Australian troops fought side by side in an offensive action on July 4, 1918 at the Battle of Hamel under the command of General Sir John Monash. It took 93 minutes to secure victory and turn the tide against the Germans on the France’s Western Front.

The evening included the unique sounds of a Didgeridoo (a wind instrument developed by Indigenous Australians over 1,500 years ago) and an opportunity for some guests to use their musical skills and try this instrument.

Special thanks to the Embassy staff who planned, set up, assisted and so much more. It was a most enjoyable and memorable evening for all.

Thanks Mate … G’night!
