A "Taste of Australia"

Ambassador Kim Beazley and his wife, Susie graciously hosted Aleethia’s “Friday Night Dinner” at the Australian Embassy on November 1, 2013. Over 80 injured/wounded service members and their families enjoyed an evening filled with a “Taste of Australia” for dinner, a history and cultural quiz, the unique sounds of a Didgeridoo and the outstanding hospitality of the Aussies!

Entertainment was provided by Cameron McCarthy’s (from Australia’s Consulate General in New York)

Cameron demonstrates the didgeridoo, a wind instrument developed by Indigenous Australians of northern Australia around 1,500 years ago. It is sometimes described as a natural wooden trumpet. Cameron’s ancestry is from the Kuku-Yalanji and Ba-Barum tribes of Northern Queensland. Cameron asked for volunteers who would like to try the didgeridoo. It made for some interesting “sounds.”
