Stand up for Veterans!
Aleethia’s “Friday Night Dinner” held on December 18th was hosted by the Veterans of Foreign Wars at the National Press Club. VFW Commander-in-Chief John Biedrzycki, D.C. Executive Director Bob Wallace, Deputy Legislative Director Aleks Morosky, and Director of Public Affairs Joe Davis greeted and met with each wounded/injured/ill service member during the dinner.
National Commander Biedrzycki spoke about the VFW’s mission to serve our veterans and to advocate on their behalf. Commander Biedrzycki stated that the VFW will help the service members “navigate the complex VA claims system” … “ensure their individual needs are properly taken care of” and more. He urged them to reach out to the VFW posts in their hometowns and be part of the community spirit offered to the veterans.
Since this was the last “Friday Night Dinner” before Christmas, there were gift bags for all the wounded/injured/ill service members, caregivers and children.
A “knitting group” provided handmade knitted scarves, shawls and more for the ladies and gift cards, mugs and more for the guys. Our dear friend, Norine provided goodie bags and door prizes for the service members.
Over 87 wounded/injured/ill service members, family members, caregivers and guests enjoyed a four-course dinner including a rather large porterhouse steak.
Children received bags of toys, activity books, bendables, stuffed animals and more…..!!
It’s Friday! We have two Birthdays “Boys!”
We wish to extend our special thanks to the NPC Staff for decorating the tables with Christmas colors including the beautiful potted poinsettias.
