“We will not let America’s Veterans be forgotten...”

VFW Commander-in-Chief John Hamilton, VFW Ladies Auxiliary National President Leanne Lemley, VFW Washington Office Executive Director, Bob Wallace and other VFW members hosted Aleethia’s Friday Night Dinner on March 1, 2013 at the National Press Club.

Mr. Hamilton welcomed the injured service members and their families to the dinner. He spoke of the many VFW programs available to assist them through their recovery process, transition to civilian life, disability claims and more. He encouraged everyone to meet with a VFW service officer for any assistance they may need. “We are here for you!”

“Veterans’ voices like yours can easily be drowned out in our Nation’s Capitol. The VFW isn’t afraid to stand and be heard on your behalf. We’re an organization of veterans helping veterans. If we don’t speak for you, who will?”

Also in attendance was Gordon Logan with “Sports Clips.” Mr. Logan is a proud Vietnam veteran. He served as an Aircraft Commander in the U.S. Air Force (1969-1976).

His commitment to fellow veterans is demonstrated in many ways. Chief among them are his position on the VFW Foundation Board and Sport Clips’ commitment to supporting service members and veterans through donations to VFW’s Operation Uplink. To date, Logan’s franchise has donated more than $1.3 million to the program, making Sport Clips the largest Free Call Day sponsor in the history of the program.

Commander-in-Chief Hamilton introduced Mike DeRosa a Burger King® franchise owner, VFW Foundation Board member and spokesperson for the group. “Burger King® Franchise Restaurant Owners are incredibly proud that our fundraising efforts for U.S. troops and their families have now surpassed the $2 million mark… “Our loyal Burger King® customers believe as we do, that U.S. military families deserve this assistance, and they want to ensure that military service personnel will never feel forgotten in their time of need. After all, these brave men and women, often far from home and those they love, have frequently personally sacrificed so much for America!”

Tonight we celebrated a special birthday for one of the injured service members. Mr. DeRosa assisted with carrying the Birthday Cake to the “Birthday Boy!” We Thank the VFW for all they do to support our Veterans and for hosting the dinner.
