Ringraziarla il soldato per il suo servizio!
Lido Civic Club of Washington DC hosted Aleethia’s “Friday Night Dinner” on Friday, May 20, 2011 at the Washington Golf & Country Club. Several members of the Lido Civic Club served as table hosts and enjoyed sharing the dinner events with many of our fine injured service members and their families.
The Lido Civic Club of Washington, DC was established in 1929 with the primary goal of assisting recent immigrants become assimilated into the ways of American business. As Italian Americans in the Washington area have become more successful and affluent, the goals of the Club have shifted towards more civic minded activities that help not only Italian Americans but the Washington Metropolitan area in general. For over 80 years, the Club has brought together Washington area Italian American businessmen to enjoy not only their shared business interest but also their Italian American culture while volunteering in various philanthropic activities.
The Italian American Golf Open held annually benefits the Lido Civic Club Scholarship Fund and The Casa Italian Cultural Center in Washington, DC. Since its inception almost 40 years ago by members of Holy Rosary Church, the Italian American Open has been a successful means of raising funds for these two worthy causes. Aleethia Foundation has assisted in extending invitations to wounded service members recovering at Walter Reed Army Medical Center and other military hospitals to participate in the golf tournament. Also, one of the wounded service members was a recipient of a Lido Civic Club Scholarship and several “Aleethia Friday Night Dinners” have been held at the Casa Italian Cultural Center.
Special thanks to Tom Caruso, member of the Lido Civic Club and a member of Washington Golf & Country Club for arranging this wonderful dinner.
