A Night of Celebrations and Special Guests

At the October 10th “Friday Night Dinner,” the Aleethia Foundation welcomed 22 wounded service members from San Antonio Military Medical Center and Naval Medical Center San Diego who were in town to participate in the “Army Ten Miler.”

Over 100 wounded/injured/ill service members, their family members and special guests enjoyed an evening of meeting new friends, sharing stories, a delicious steak dinner, awesome dessert buffet, door prizes and more. Also, we had to say “goodbye for now” to a wounded service member and his wife who were returning home to Puerto Rico.

Our little guests enjoyed having extra rooms to run around with the other children. Over 20 children attended tonight’s dinner. Thank goodness for sticker and coloring books and hot wheels cars that many of our supporters provide for our little guests. Of course, what would Friday be without a birthday…so many candles that sunglasses had to be worn!

Aleethia wishes to thank Mona and Steve Baker for their donation of messenger swag bags.

Representatives from American Vet Dogs spoke about their military service dog programs. The dogs are trained to provide balance, retrieve dropped items etc. for folks with special needs. Also, the service dogs offer emotional support for service members dealing with combat stress, home front issues and sleep disorders.

One of the injured service members shared a touching thank you to his wife of 18 years. This was going to be the first time in nine years they would be together for their 18th wedding anniversary.

And a special thanks to the Capitol Hill Club and their staff for a wonderful evening!!
