Ronald D. Aument

Mr. Aument is a founding partner with Duty First Consulting, LLC, and his
professional background is highlighted by 34 years of experience with the
Department of Veterans Affairs. After retiring from federal service in early 2008,
Mr. Aument joined BearingPoint where he served as Director and Strategic
Advisor on the Department of Defense and Veterans Affairs Healthcare team in
BearingPoint’s Public Services Business Unit. During his tenure with the
BearingPoint DoD/VA Healthcare team, Mr. Aument supported the team on
multiple and diverse projects and opportunities in both the VA and DoD arenas.
In addition, he consulted on international veterans program issues and brought a
number of new business partners to the BearingPoint DoD/VA Healthcare team to
strengthen solution offerings.
Mr. Aument served the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs for over 33 years. As the Chief Operating Officer of the Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA), Mr. Aument appeared before Congress and the media. He attended international Veterans’ Affairs forums on policy and operations issues. He led the modernization of VBA’s largest, legacy claims processing and payment system. Earlier in his career, Mr. Aument served as the VA’s Deputy Chief of Staff, he coordinated key Departmental policy initiatives, including providing managerial support for a Blue Ribbon Panel on VA Cardiac Care, guiding a Secretarial Task Force to revamp VA’s administrative review processes, and creating a Departmental strategic plan for employee education and training. Mr. Aument played a vital role in the creation and implementation of a governance structure for managing critical policy issues development and implementation within the Department. He architected a structure for reviewing and approving advisory and assistance contracts of over $ 5M, which resulted in first year savings of several million dollars.
AWARDS:
Mr. Aument’s dedicated service to veterans and to the VA has been recognized
through receipt of VA’s Distinguished Career Award in 2008, the Presidential Rank
Award for Meritorious Service in 2007, and the VA Exceptional Service Award in
2004, VA’s highest ranking award.

BS Business Administration with a concentration in Finance and Investment
Analysis from Pennsylvania State University
MILITARY:
US Army veteran, with service in Vietnam from 1971 to 1972
